Paintings of
Kathy Lawson

My home is in Opunake, a small and gentle town in the wonderful province of Taranaki, New Zealand.   Between the needs of  my children, my home and myself, I seem to find some time in amongst all that to paint.  I have exhibited my paintings in various places in the South Island of New Zealand,  and also in Australia.  Where is not important - as long as I have enjoyed  it.  I find exquisite delight in the design of a flower and stand in awe at the magnificence of the mountain that I view from my backyard.  I give credit to the one who has infinite wisdom and knowledge of colours, combinations and designs - my Creator.  All a painter does, is use the brain that was given him and imitate what is already there for his or her eyes to see...  We all have a sense of creativity.  When we choose to reveal  it to others, we expose something about ourselves.  As long as I enjoy a sense of achievement and joy from what I put on canvas then I am happy.   As long as I enjoy it, I will continue to paint alongside all the other things I do.  At the moment, I juggle between a shovel, hammer, chisel, garden fork, paint brush, kitchen spoon, garden rake, computer, telephone, camera, canvas - and oh yes! A strong cup of black coffee or a glass of good wine.........
